Hey Everybody!

I apologize for the tardiness of the spring update. Its been quite a busy year already. I've been trying to compile all of this information and as of now, I'm still working on some of it.

****Update Contacts****
Most teams have had elections at this point, so please get me your new contacts. Also, if you are receiving this and you are no longer at your school, please just respond to me, and I'll get your email removed. I ask that you please be patient during this process because if someone responses to all, you might still be getting our emails. Please remember, I need at least two contacts per team. I'll send it out as soon as I get the information from everyone.

****By Laws****
I started to amend the bylaws to reflect our decisions at the Region meeting but decided it might be more productive just to start over from scratch. There are some new provisions so please read them carefully. I borrowed most of the language from the Mid West bylaws, but there might some provisions we don't agree with. Everything in here is changeable, but I thought it was a good place to start and will hopefully give us a little more legitimacy.

****Tournament Schedule****
Below is the schedule we all agreed on at Regionals. If your tournament is changing sites or dates, we need to know NOW. I'm going to be following up with these teams in the next couple of weeks, but I need to know NOW if there is even a possibility that you will be changing the tournament. We've been pretty lase on this in the past, but we need to try to get this stuff squared away AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Spring:
Texas A&M at Lord's Lake (March 27th and 28th)
Baylor Spring Fling at Princeton (April 10th and 11th)
ULM Spring Classic at the Bayou Desaird (April 24th and April 25th)

Fall:
Kevin Shimek Memorial Tournament (Sept 11th and 12th) Site Unknown
Arkansas Tournament in the Dallas Area (Working on you guys a site).
Regionals hosted by ULL at Bennetts (Oct 2nd and 3rd)

****Region Shirts****
I've attached some ideas for a region shirt. I've also attached two designs that Camille also created. We'll be voting at the first tournament, so we can have them printed pretty quickly. It would be a great fund raiser` for our region. At this point we don't really have a budget at all, so expanding to new teams is basically impossible. Also, we can afford to help out the All Stars team a little to defray some costs to get to California. I compiled the designs into two pdf's. Joey's design has my design, with the circle emblem on the back and Team South Central on the front. Camille's design has to alternative fronts (one with the Kevin's helmet, and one with region cohesion) and the back has the 3-event logos. We can make both or either, but lets go ahead and start discussing it.

****Region Web Site****
I'm roughly 60% of the way done with the region website. It should be done by Polar Bear. It needs some design help, but most of the content is there. However, I need team histories. Each team will have a small page that is dedicated to their school. So, whatever you guys can scrape up, please let me know. Also, I'll be linking the site to your websites, so please ask whoever to maintains your sites to give them a once over. I'm also exploring web site hosting companies and their fees. More information will come.

Very Successful Nationals for the SCR

Congratulations to the teams who represented the South Central in Arizona. The SCR was just barely bet out by the Midwest in getting the 21st team for the 2009 Nationals. ULM won for the third year in a row and ULL was a solid second. All three other teams finished higher than their prospective rankings going in to the tournament. Texas took 8th place, beating out Iowa State. Texas State and Texas A&M finished 3rd and 4th respectively in Division II. Brent Norwood of Texas A&M took first in men's overall in Division II.

Some other notable scores:
Adam Seldmajer ULM 5370
Daniel Odvark ULM 2.5 @ 39
Claudio Koestenberge ULL 163
Kate Adriaensen ULM 1 @ 38
Katy Brantley TSU 95'

and the top three DII jump spots

Brent Norwood TAM 127'
Kevin Shimek TSU 123'
Bobby Hall TSU 111'

Good work.

Regionals this weekend

Regionals is this weekend. What you will need for registration:

Paid team dues to NCWSA and SCR
Paid all your skier's individual dues to NCWSA
Turn in Letter of Elgibility from your school for all your skiers (check NCWSA.com for what needs to be listed).

Good Luck!

ULM Takes First at First Tournament

The South Central Region finally got a tournament under the belt, but Mother Nature still was not fully cooperative. After an extended rain delay The University of Louisiana Monroe beat out their instate rivals from the south. The University of Louisiana Lafayette took second followed by Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State, Baylor and Arkansas. Adam Seldjamer beat Ian Trapp with a score of 3 bouys at 39 off to 1 at 39 off respectively. Nick Williams of Texas took third with a respectable 5 at 35 off. Looking ahead to next weeks regional Ccampionships; the fight for the coveted third place in Division 1 Nationals should be a back and forth battle as usual. At the top of the team rankings it is not a forgone conclusion who will go into Nationals with the first place finish. Look for ULL to make a push for momentum after doubling as hosts this past weekend.
